How to Make Cannabutter for Beginners

What is Cannabutter?

Hopefully no one thought Cannabutter really meant “Canada Butter.” What it is really is Cannabis infused butter, hence the name Cannabutter.  This ingredient is the basis of many pot-infused recipes.  So instead of using regular butter, marijuana enthusiasts would opt for cannabutter. Well, let’s get down to business (to defeat the Huns). Sorry, I don’t think I am capable of writing that sentence without finishing it Mulan style. So anyway, this is a pretty easy recipe to follow and should not take longer than 10 minutes to prepare and 1 hour to cook.  You can use cannabutter in almost any recipe.

Ingredients

1/2 cup of Salted Butter

1/4 ounce (7 grams) of Cannabis buds, Finely Ground

Directions

  • You are going to melt the butter in a sauce pan on low heat.  Then, add the finely ground buds to the sauce pan and simmer.  You will want to simmer  for 45 minutes on low heat and stir often.
  • After simmering for 45 min on low heat you are going to want to strain your butter through a fine strainer into a glass dish. When straining use the back of a spoon to push against the mushy cannabis buds to extract as much butter as you can. (You can throw away the mushy buds).
  • Last step you can choose to use the cannabutter immediately, or you can save for later and keep it refrigerated until the time comes. It should harden and actually look like solid butter when refrigerated.

There you have it! You have now made your own cannabutter.  You can now be the incredible chef you are and experiment with all different types of recipes.  You can even just make buttered toast, no one is judging you.
